Aachen, Germany — July 15, 2016 The success for the United States continued on Friday at the prestigious CHIO Aachen, with several members of each team turning in ribbon-winning performances.
In driving, U.S.A.’s Chester Weber placed third out of 25 in the four-in-hand gambler’s choice cones test, continuing his streak of top-three performances after placing second and third during the four-in-hand dressage tests earlier in the week.
U.S. Show Jumping also continued its hot streak after finishing second in Thursday’s nations cup, with four U.S. riders finishing in
the top 12 in the Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia. Kent Farrington, riding Gazelle, who he shares ownership of with Robin Parsky, was the highest-placed U.S. rider, turing in a double clear round to finish in fifth place. Beezie Madden followed closely behind in seventh with Abigail Wexner’s Quister. McLain Ward and Double H Farm’s HH Carlos Z finished in tenth, while Laura Kraut and St. Bride’s Farm’s Cavalia took the eleventh spot.
In eventing, Lauren Kieffer and Jacqueline B. Mars’ Landmark’s Monte Carlo are currently the highest ranked individual U.S. pair, going into the cross country phase on 49.60 penalties after going double clear in the stadium jumping phase. Team U.S.A. is sitting in sixth place with a total of 159 penalties as the team heads into the cross country phase.
