Ocala, FL (August 23, 2012) — Combined Driver Chester Weber, the nine-time USEF National Four-In-Hand Champion, has joined the Advisory Board of the new Equestrian Quarterly publication. Weber, who is well known world wide as an accomplished equestrian athlete, will bring a fresh and educated perspective on the sport of Combined Driving and other equestrian pursuits to the new publication. Weber joins an esteemed group of equestrians on the Advisory Board, including Carol Cohen, M. Douglas Mutch, Peter Leone, Tracy Brindle, Margaret Duprey, Mason Phelps and J Stanley Edward just to name a few. Advisory Board members will be called upon for their opinion on content and will have the opportunity to promote their equestrian sport.

“I am passionate about Combined Driving and my goal is to introduce as many people as possible to the sport,” Weber said. “This is a great avenue to introduce more people to my discipline and I look forward to being part of this new publication.” Equestrian Quarterly is a high-end, coffee-table, equestrian publication in the same vain as Town and Country magazine. Equestrian Quarterly will reflect all disciplines and all parts of the country.

Weber has a long and stellar show career, and recently made an addition to his resume when he was awarded the Individual Silver Medal while representing the United States at the 2012 FEI Four-in-Hand Driving World Championships in Riesenbeck, Germany. Team USA, with members Weber, James Fairclough, and Joe Yoder, captured the Team Bronze at Riesenbeck. This  accomplishment comes on the heels of an exciting European summer tour for Team Weber.

Known as “Mr. Dressage” for his excellent dressage skills during the dressage phase of Combined Driving, Weber showed off his outstanding dressage abilities at the 2012 CHIO Aachen, where he

scored only 33.54 penalty points in his dressage test. In so doing he broke the Aachen record and secured himself an excellent lead going into the cones. The Ground Jury at Aachen unanimously put

Weber’s dressage score was a 36.86, a huge lead over the second place of 50.82 and the third place score of 53.25. “My team has really shown a remarkable improvement in dressage and it is thrilling that we continue to drive away with the best scores,” Weber said, adding that Europe is highly competitive. Team Weber is comprised of horses owned by Weber and Jane Forbes Clark. As one of America’s most driven and decorated competitors, Weber entered unchartered territory earlier this year when he won the USEF Four-In-Hand Championship for the ninth time. The combined

forces of Team Weber and Team Clark has also proven to be a brilliant move and a positive step for American four-in-hand combined driving. Weber’s resume is lengthy, and in 2011 he was named an Equestrian of Honor by the USEF and was also the recipient of the Becky Grand Hart Trophy. He was named the 2011 Driving Horseman of the Year in The Chronicle of the Horse Magazine’s annual American Horses In Sport issue. Weber served as Chef d’ Equipe to the United States Pony and Pony Pairs teams at the 2011 World Pony Driving Championships, and has served on the USEF Board of Directors, the High Performance Driving Committee and the Driving Safety Committee. He also served as Chairman for the Active Athlete’s Committee and the Dressage Search Committee. Weber also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Horse Park Foundation.
