Product Review by Chester Weber ~
Team Weber Relies On Equilite’s Sore No More® Award Winning Products
Horses that are part of a Combined Driving team are athletes that work extremely hard, and my horses are no exception. Just like humans who take part in physically demanding sports, horses can get sore and develop muscle fatigue. That’s where Equilite’s Sore No More products come into play with my team – for 10 years we have used many of the Sore No More family of products. We use Sore No More Liniment, Gelotion, Cooling Clay Poultice, The Sauce and Sports Salve.
Sore No More, which has twice been voted Product of the Year by the Horse Journal, is an all-natural arnica herbal horse liniment which features a blend of Witch Hazel, Arnica and other herbs developed to reduce muscle fatigue, bruising, swelling and related soreness. We use the liniment on the backs of all of the horses on Team Weber after a strenuous day of training. We also use the Gelotion under standing bandages and the Cooling Clay Poultice on inflamed limbs, either under wraps or on its own.
The reason we have used Equilite’s products for so long is easy -- they really work. Equilite is committed to knowing what is in their products and they are also involved in the manufacturing of their products so that the potential risk of exposure to harmful substances or illegal substances is minimized. I recommend all of Equilite’s products to my peers and my students as Equilite is on the cutting edge of identifying and developing products for horsemen and women that have a practical application.
In addition to the Sore No More family of products, Equilite also produces Herbal Blends which include Ani-Motion, Bleeders Blend, Garlic+C, Fly Away Garlic, Equinacea, Four Hoofs, RelaxBlend, RelaxHer Blend, Relax Blend Valerian Free, PrePro and Sow Your Seeds Pasture Blend. Equilite is also known for their Botanical Animal Flower Essences, which are a favorite among riders all across the country.
Equilite's herbal horse liniments, holistic herbal supplement blends and botanical flower essences are non-irritating and safe for horses, horse owners and the environment. They contain no sugars, no fillers and no chemicals and are proudly made with human grade ingredients in the USA. Equilite is an environmentally conscious company.

Chester Weber’s Product Review for Cosequin ASU
For Carriage Driving World
Cosequin ASU
I am a firm believer in keeping all of my Combined Driving horses on a program, and part of that program includes using Cosequin ASU, a broad spectrum joint enhancer. My team has met with great success -- from earning the National Four-In-Hand Title six years in a row to winning a Silver Medal at the World Championships last summer -- and part of that success stems from my program.
In the Beginning
As part of my program I started all of my horses on Cosequin in 1996. I now use professional strength Cosequin ASU because of the new technology of avocado/soybean unsaponifiables and the high quality MSM. I had used MSM separately in the past, but now I don’t have to as the Cosequin ASU takes care of it all.
From the start, one of my older horses had obvious improvement which made me a believer in the product. He wasn’t as stiff thanks to the Cosequin and that was exactly the result I was hoping for. As an extra benefit, I have even had radiographs improve after some of my older horses were on the product, which usually doesn’t happen.
The Impact
The biggest impact of having my horses on Cosequin ASU is that I have a sound group of athletes who show up for work eager to train. The health and comfort of my horses is very important to me, and it is also imperative in reaching our goals.
Another great benefit of Cosequin ASU is that it is easy to feed and has never been an issue with my horses. We just top-dress their feed with the Cosequin and even our pickiest horses enjoy it.
Recommendation
Part of building a world-class Combined Driving team is having horses with experience. Of course to gain experience your horse needs to be sound and ready to work everyday. I recommend Cosequin for anyone interested in building a great horse, because your horse can then be fit and work hard and gain experience – an essential ingredient in the development of a great horse.
I also believe in the investment of Cosequin ASU as there is no question in my mind that it will make your horse’s career last longer. I will continue to use this product because I need experienced horses to be successful.
--Thanks and good luck with your horses and your driving!

Chester Weber product review for Carriage Driving World
Draper Equine Therapy®
Intro:
Combined Driving horses are true athletes in every sense of the word, which means they need to be treated with special care. Treating my horses like athletes means we care for everything from their legs and backs to their nutritional intake to their minds. That special care has helped us achieve great success, which includes my star horse Jamaica being named the 2008 USEF Horse of the Year, the highest honor in the horse industry.
In the Beginning:
The newest and most impressive products I have added to the Team Weber arsenal are the Draper Therapy products. Draper Equine Therapy® featuring Holofiber®/Celliant™ helps increase circulation and oxygenation within the body while reducing pain. I use Draper Equine Therapy®’s leg wraps on all of the horses on my team. The horses wear the recovery wraps in the evening and Draper’s special fabric helps to promote circulation and alleviates older sport horses like Jamaica from stocking up. Compared to similar products, I believe Draper Equine Therapy® is the best on the market. I have tried many products but none have equaled the results I have had with the Draper recovery wraps. These therapeutic products are also unique in that they are machine washable and dryer safe. All products are additionally made in the USA.
The Impact:
Many performance horses have wind puffs and the Draper Equine Therapy® leg wraps help keep their legs tighter. We have tried many similar products and there is no question in my mind that Draper’s is one of a kind. Draper Equine Therapy® products helps the body become more efficient at what it already does and helps to combat soreness, stiffness and edema, while helping with muscle recovery and healing. Their products have been clinically proven to regulate temperature and decrease pain, which is very important for a competitive horse.
Recommendation:
The reason I recommend using Draper Equine Therapy® products is simple – they work and they hold up well. As a horse person I understand that none of us wants to buy a product and then have it fall apart. The Draper Equine Therapy® products are quality, and they work, and for me that is a reason to recommend them. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Draper Therapy has a full line of equine products and also makes a full line of human and canine products. By trying these yourself, you will quickly experience the comfort and benefit the Draper Equine Therapy® products deliver to horses.
Good luck with your horses and your driving. If you have questions about the Draper Equine Therapy® products, please visit their website.

Chester Weber’s Product Review for Sentry PEMF Blanket by Respond Systems
For Carriage Driving World Magazine
Sentry PEMF Blanket by Respond Systems
Horses that are part of a Combined Driving team are athletes that work extremely hard, and my horses are no exception. I take the statement “no foot, no horse and no back, no horse” to heart which is why I use the Sentry PEMF Blanket by Respond Systems on my team. The blankets generate healing therapeutic magnetic fields that are safe, have no side effects, and treat sore backs, sore muscles and stiff, arthritic joints.
In the Beginning
I started using the Bio-Pulse Standard blankets in 1996, and I use them on all my horses. For the youngsters on my team who are reaching competition fitness for the first time, we use the blankets daily. Any horses I have with troublesome confirmation, or those who tend to have symptomatic backs, they get treated daily also. As for the rest of the team, they all get treated the week leading up to the shows and at the competitions.
I have two Bio-Pulse models and am planning on getting a Sentry model. The Sentry is lighter weight and has flashing LEDs on the pulsing coils, so it is easy to determine that the treatment is in progress. The Sentry also has extra hamstring and inside stifle coils.
The Impact
My horses work very hard with their backs and in order to stay in top condition I rely on the blankets to help keep my team at the top of their game. The Sentry and Bio-Pulse utilize pulsing coils that are built into a well-fitted sheet that covers major joints and muscles, so that all of the critical joints and muscles are treated quickly.
The system helps you to quickly warm up your horse without extensive hacking, and also helps your horse relax. The treatments are completed quickly, and can be done while your horse is on cross ties or enjoying his hay. Because the treatments are fast, it means we can treat all of our horses. A total treatment takes about 30 minutes.
Recommendation
Anyone who already drives, or is interested in driving, knows they need to have horses with a loose top line or training is blocked. One of the reasons I use the Respond Systems blankets is because of what it does for my horses’ backs and because it loosens up the legs, feet, hocks and neck at the same time.
The blankets are easy to care for, portable and battery operated. I like it that they don’t have electrical wires. I also like that the modulated pulsing electro-magnetic field increases absorption of calcium in bones and improves the quality of cartilage in joints, decreasing pain dramatically.
Most owners who treat their horses with the Bio Pulse and Sentry blankets notice an improvement in the way their horses move and feel within a week or two. As a competitor who relies on my horses to feel their best, I count on my Bio-Pulse Blankets as part of my program.
Good luck in your driving and if you have questions about the Bio-Pulse or Sentry Blankets visit the Respond website at www.respondsystems.com.

Introduction to Succeed –
Succeed is a Digestive Conditioning Program that I began using on my horses in the summer of 2006. I will be the first to say it is a product I needed to use but didn’t know it until I tried it. We started to use Succeed as an aid when my horses were competing at the highest level of the sport of combined driving. Succeed aided in keeping the finicky eaters from going off their feed while at stressful competitions where there is little to no down time in the barn areas. In 2006, after the CHIO in Aachen, Germany, I was sold on Succeed as horses like Grumus, one of the members of my four-in-hand team, never stopped eating and performed better for it.
In the Beginning
Succeed is an impressive product that deals directly with the horse’s digestive system. Despite the fact that horses are large, strong and fast, their digestive systems are very delicate. Common methods of caring for modern performance horses, such as extended time spent in stalls and traveling to events, can throw off the delicate balance of the horse’s digest system.
The digestive system of the horse is designed to support a lifestyle of grazing freely in herds for most of the day while encountering very little stress. While my horses do get grass turnout, they travel to competitions around the world and, like most horses, are sustained on a diet of processed grain which is fed to them at various times throughout the day. Therefore, even though I wasn’t fully aware of it, my horses needed Succeed to aid in keeping their digestive systems in balance.
While representatives of Succeed, or their website, can best explain the science of how Succeed works, I know the secret to its effectiveness is in its component ingredients. The nutrients in Succeed keep the digestive system working at its optimal best.
The Impact
Since my team began using Succeed, I have seen a difference in my horses that includes better composure and more slow burn energy. Succeed is also safe and easy to feed – we use the granules as a top dressing and I have yet to meet the horse that doesn’t think it is palatable. When we are in high stress situations, like shipping to a show or to another country, we use the Succeed oral syringes before and after the event.
In addition, the impact of Succeed on my team of horses includes having my horses continue to eat in environments that would have made the more finicky eaters slow down or stop altogether. Since Succeed not only gives the horse optimal digestive health, you can see improvements in your horses appearance, temperament and performance.
Recommendation
It’s easy to see why I recommend Succeed as the digestive system has a greater impact on a horse than you might imagine. Succeed compliments the system naturally and completely and I have seen positive results in my own team. Succeed is fed once a day and I don’t think you will be disappointed in the results – I know I haven’t been.
